Tesla Unveils Robotaxi, Robovan, and Robotic Ambitions In Overdue Keynote

High expectations almost always lead to disappointment — and this seems to be the case after waiting a decade for something that still isn’t ready. Elon Musk promised over a million autonomous taxis would be on the road by 2020, but it’s 2024, and that vision remains unrealized. Musk and Tesla’s long-awaited “We, Robot” event offered investors and potential customers a look at the automaker’s future — but three unique product reveals failed to ease concerns about slow growth at America’s most valuable automaker.
The drive to thrive: Tesla also introduced the “Robovan,” designed to carry up to 20 people or large amounts of cargo — though no pricing or release date was mentioned. Musk further teased Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, which is expected to sell for $20K to $30K — though no timeline was provided for their release. While this event was supposed to be a “make or break” moment for the visionary company, Deepwater Asset Management’s Gene Munster remains optimistic, saying, “The Cybercab falls squarely into the ‘worth the wait camp,’ and even if it’s three years before it sees the light of day, investors will be rewarded.”
