Robinhood Deepens Its Prediction Markets Push With Two New Equity Stakes

Robinhood Markets will add Crypto.com and OG.com event contracts to its app under a multiyear deal that also gives it minority stakes in both companies.
The agreement pushes Robinhood deeper into prediction markets, where users trade yes-or-no contracts tied to sports, elections, economics, culture, and financial events.
Crypto.com recently spun out OG.com as a stand-alone prediction-markets platform, while Robinhood already works with Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera.
Football and midterms drive the timing
Robinhood will route retail event-contract volume through OG.com’s US Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated exchange and clearinghouse infrastructure, with OG-backed contracts starting for eligible US customers on Sept. 8.
The timing matters because football season and the 2026 midterm elections could bring two of the busiest trading windows for event contracts. Event contracts generated a record $156M in second-quarter revenue for Robinhood, making the category a more important growth driver.
Robinhood is also expanding election contracts with a dedicated hub for state and federal races ahead of the November midterms.
"It’s something [our customers] want to trade."

The market is growing under scrutiny
Prediction markets gained broader attention during the 2024 US presidential election and saw strong demand during sports events including the FIFA World Cup.
Supporters say the contracts can reflect crowd expectations, while critics compare them to gambling and regulators have increased scrutiny around insider trading.
For Robinhood, adding venues could improve pricing and resilience as it tries to keep active traders inside its app. Customers have bought and sold more than 45B event contracts on Robinhood since the company launched the offering about two years ago.
Robinhood said 13.6B event contracts traded on its platform in the second quarter, and more than 5B traded during the World Cup. The deal gives Robinhood another stake in the infrastructure behind a fast-growing product, not just another menu item for traders.
