You don’t have to spell it out for Alphabet, but it needs a little boost after seeing its stock fall 12% from last month’s all-time highs. And yesterday, it might have found a way to turn things around. After moving up its annual October “Made by Google” event, the company showcased its new AI-flavored hardware and software products, initially gaining fervor from investors — who lifted Google’s stock ~1.2% yesterday.
- Google announced three refreshed Pixel handsets featuring AI capabilities powered by its “most efficient chip yet” — which can take notes during calls, edit photos and videos, and create new content like text and images by running generative AI directly on the device.
- The new Pixel Watch and wireless earbuds also boast an onboard Tensor chip, which is intended to speed up responses from its controversial Gemini AI product.
Keynotes galore: Google is the second tech giant to show off the full breadth of AI in their products, following Samsung, which unveiled Galaxy AI and new hardware products last month. Next month, Apple will complete the lineup of major tech keynotes, showing off how its new OpenAI-powered Apple Intelligence integrates into its devices. May the best AI win.
