Chase Sapphire Preferred’s Biggest Refresh in Years — More Perks, Same Fee

Chase is giving Sapphire Preferred a broader role in cardholders’ wallets. The refresh adds new bonus categories tied to everyday spending while beefing up its lineup of travel credits, protections, and perks. As annual fees climb across the industry, Chase is trying to squeeze more value out of the same $95 price tag.
- Starting June 15, Sapphire Preferred cardholders will earn 3x points on gas, EV charging, and select vacation rental platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo.
- Cardholders will also receive up to $120 toward TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or NEXUS enrollment and a free year of Apple TV+.
Travel perks grow: The refresh also makes Sapphire Preferred a stronger value proposition for casual travelers. The card’s annual Chase Travel hotel credit is doubling to $100, enough to offset its annual fee with just one qualifying hotel stay each year. Expanded travel protections, including emergency evacuation and transportation coverage, further strengthen the card’s travel-focused appeal. Just goes to show, holding the line on price still counts for something.
