Bilt and Chase Are Cutting Hyatt Transfer Perks. What Travelers Need to Know

Your credit card points could soon buy you fewer hotel nights. Bilt Rewards is cutting the value of points transferred to World of Hyatt, giving cardholders until the end of December to take advantage of the current rate. For anyone saving up points for a hotel stay, the timing could make a real difference.
What the new ratio does
Bilt points convert to World of Hyatt at 4:3 from Jan. 1, 2027, so 1K Bilt points become 750 Hyatt points. The last day at 1:1 is Dec. 31, 2026.
That's 25% fewer Hyatt points per Bilt point. Flip it around and the same stay costs one third more Bilt points than it does today.
A stay priced at 60K Hyatt points currently takes 60K Bilt points. After the switch, it takes 80K Bilt points for the identical booking.
There's no carve-out. The new rate applies regardless of Bilt elite status or which Bilt Mastercard is in the wallet, including the premium Bilt Palladium Card.
Why Chase set the pattern
Chase moved first. Starting Oct. 1, 2026, Sapphire Preferred points convert to World of Hyatt at 4:3 instead of 1:1, raising award costs by 25%.
Chase kept an escape hatch that Bilt isn't offering. The $795 Sapphire Reserve retains 1:1 Hyatt transfers, while the $95 Preferred dropped to the worse rate.
For Ink Business Preferred, Oct. 1 is the effective date for existing cardmembers and for new applicants from that day forward. Chase announced both changes on June 15, 2026.
Bilt's 1:1 rate briefly made it the only program transferring to Hyatt at full value for everyone. Frequent Miler had called Bilt a huge winner when the Chase cut was announced. That window closes at the end of 2026.
What the old rate is worth
The value of acting early scales with the balance. A 50K Bilt transfer yields 50K Hyatt points today and 37.5K after Jan. 1, 2027, a gap of 12.5K points.
At 100K, the difference is 25K Hyatt points. The same 100K transfer that used to book a five-night stay at a Category 4 property at 20K points per night falls 5K points short of covering four nights after the change.
The move is to transfer Bilt points to World of Hyatt before Dec. 31, 2026, for stays that are already planned. Every 1K Bilt points moved at the old rate buys 250 extra Hyatt points compared with moving the same balance in January.
There's a catch worth weighing. Transferring points early means committing them to Hyatt before you're ready to book, so it makes more sense to take advantage of the current rate for stays you already have in mind rather than moving points just to beat the deadline.
Transfers typically move in 1K-point increments, and delays are possible. Confirm the 1K-point transfer increments and timing before any year-end transfer. Check Bilt and World of Hyatt for current requirements before acting.
Sapphire Preferred cardholders also lost a travel redemption perk. Chase scrapped the fixed value of 1.25 cents per point for bookings through Chase Travel, introducing Points Boost offers that can raise redemption values to as much as 1.5 cents per point.
The 10% Anniversary Bonus also ended in stages, with the final cutoff on Oct. 1, 2026. Anyone who applied on or after June 15, 2026, never earned it at all.
The $95 annual fee stayed put, and the refresh added a $100 annual hotel credit plus new bonus categories such as gas and electric vehicle charging. Whether those offsets cover a 25% jump in Hyatt award costs depends on how often the card funds hotel nights.
