With gas prices back on the rise, you need every break you can get when it comes to Americans’ second-largest expenditure category: their vehicle. Flat tires don’t happen every day, but (perhaps surprisingly) some places will do you a solid and fix it for an unbeatable price.

• Auto repair chain Discount Tire will inspect and repair a flat tire for free, assuming the gash isn’t too big — and it’s not just a tire patch, either.
• Walmart also offers free repairs at its auto centers for Walmart+ customers; it’s really easy to get a free trial of their membership or get it on a card like the Amex Platinum.

Nice to know: Tire repair isn’t one of those jarringly expensive costs that you run into with car ownership too often, but knowing that you can sort any inconvenience is a small consolation for the inconvenience of driving around a depreciating asset. Now, if only they’d make a car that makes you money and fixes itself…
