Capital One launched a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, running from Oct. 21 through Nov. 20, 2026.
The usual transfer ratio is 1:1, so during the promotion 1K Capital One miles become 1.3K Virgin Points. No registration is required, and there's no cap on how many bonus points a cardholder can earn.
The minimum transfer is 1K miles, with increments of 100 above that, which lets travelers move exactly what an award costs instead of overshooting.
Capital One and Virgin Red accounts must be linked before transferring. Transfers are typically instant, though they're irreversible once sent.
The bonus moves award prices into bargain territory
Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from the Northeastern US to London starts at 29K Virgin Points, or 22.4K Capital One miles with the bonus applied.
Economy on the same routes starts at 6K points, which works out to 4.7K Capital One miles.
The bigger prize sits with partner airlines. All Nippon Airways first class between Hawaii and Japan runs 57.5K Virgin Points, or 44.3K Capital One miles during the promotion.
Short-haul Delta awards use a distance-based chart, with the shortest flights starting at 7.5K Virgin Points.
The Bonus Lowers the Miles Needed for Every Award
Virgin Points needed for sample awards vs. Capital One miles needed with the 30% transfer bonus, through Nov. 20, 2026
| Award | Virgin Points | Capital One miles (with 30% bonus) |
|---|---|---|
| US Northeast to London, economy | 6K | 4.7K |
| US Northeast to London, premium economy | 10.5K | 8.1K |
| US Northeast to London, Upper Class | 29K | 22.4K |
| Delta, shortest distance band | 7.5K | 5.8K |
| ANA business class, Hawaii to Japan | 37.5K | 28.9K |
| ANA first class, Hawaii to Japan | 57.5K | 44.3K |
| ANA first class, East/Central US to Japan | 85K | 65.4K |
All Nippon Airways awards can't be booked online, so travelers have to find space elsewhere and call Flying Club.
Taxes and fees still land on the card
The bonus cuts the points cost, not the cash charges attached to a ticket. A one-way Virgin Atlantic business-class ticket to London carries roughly $500 to $700 in taxes and fees, which can swallow much of the savings on a cheap cash fare.
US economy awards to the UK carry moderate fees, while flights originating in the UK run higher. Finding the award seat first, then transferring, remains the standard playbook, since a points balance guarantees nothing.
Virgin Red joined Capital One's transfer lineup in March 2022, and this is the fifth bonus since then, all at 30%. The last one ended in October 2025, so the cadence is roughly annual.
With a month-long window, cardholders chasing a new sign-up bonus to fund a transfer are unlikely to earn and post the miles in time.
For anyone already sitting on a Capital One balance with a trip in mind, the math is simply 30% better until Nov. 20.
